Riveiro had a slow start to life in Egypt after his move from Orlando Pirates toward the end of last season. After a poor FIFA Club World Cup tournament, the Spaniard started his league campaign with a draw against Modern Sport in the first game.
According to reports from Ahly News, Al Ahly's management is upset over Riveiro's insistence on holding the team's training sessions as early as 10:30 in the morning.
Some believe that the 49-year-old has become used to training early in warmer conditions from his previous stint with Pirates, but there remains firm opposition to his methods.
The Arabic publication claims that some players and staff had submitted complaints about training, due to the high temperatures, as they believe it is hindering the players' ability to be technically and physically ready for league games.
The 49-year-old has come under pressure to move training sessions to a later time, as the Red Devils play most of their games in the evening, meaning no need for early training sessions.
Riveiro has tried to convince those opposing his methods of the advantages of early morning training sessions, but others have pointed out that previous coaches such as Pitso Mosimane and Riveiro's predecessor, Marcel Koller, never conducted training in the heat.
