While the Al Ahly squad enjoys a short break following the FIFA Club World Cup, Jose Riveiro and his technical team remain hard at work to decide the squad for next season.
According to Baladna El-Youm, the club's management reportedly told Riveiro that he will decide on which goalkeepers and youth players will be part of the team going forward.
After discussions with the board, it was decided that none of the team's four current goalkeeping options would be sold as they deem the existing options to be sufficient. These include Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Mohamed Siha, and Mostafa Makhlouf.
Meanwhile, Riveiro was also told that he would determine what happens to the young players who were out on loan in the previous season. The Spaniard either has the option to keep them or loan them out again.
The club has reportedly revealed that it wants to decide the future of the youth players before the new season, either integrated into the first team or sent out on loan, to ensure they are given playing time.
This is allegedly part of the club's new strategy to nurture youth talent.
