An African footballer playing in Europe has been accused of lying about his real identity and age.
It was reported by Africa Top Sports last month that Red Star Belgrade attacker Guelor Kanga could be in serious trouble over allegations he has falsified his identity.
The 30-year-old is a first-team regular in Serbia, while he has featured for Gabon on 35 occasions since his international debut in 2012.
According to the abovementioned report, however, there are concerns that Kanga might have actually been born in DR Congo and that he is, in fact, five years older than he claims to be.
His current passport reportedly states that he was born on 1 September 1990 as Guelor Kanga, but it is believed his real name is Kiaku Kiaku Kiangana, and that he was born on 5 October 1985 in Kinshasa, DRC.
If found guilty, the Gabonese Football Federation could face stiff punishment, and there is a risk of the Gabon national team being kicked out of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
