With it becoming common for a player born in Europe to represent the country his parents were born in on the international stage, here are 10 well-known footballers who could still play for African countries, including three Premier League stars Ghana could take to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In September last year, FIFA made a law change that allows for footballers to switch their international allegiance if they have played no more than three games at senior level prior to turning 21 years old.
This means three-time England international Callum Hudson-Odoi is still legally allowed to represent Ghana, the nation his father was born in, and playing for the Black Stars is something the Chelsea winger is believed to be considering, despite his previous best efforts to star for the Three Lions.
The 21-year-old represented England at youth level and was considered a top prospect for Gareth Southgate's side, but has not been selected by the manager since November 2019 and it seems to have become clear he has no immediate future in the set-up.
The speedy dribbler is not the only EPL-based player being monitored closely by Ghana, however, with rumours suggesting that Brighton Hove Albion's Tariq Lamptey and Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah could also be approached ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
In Lamptey and Nketiah's case, neither of them have turned out for England at senior level, despite the latter being the record goalscorer for the country at U21 level with 16 strikes in 17 matches.
Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, meanwhile, has the option to play for DR Congo should he be determined to play international football, although he has previously turned out for England at youth level.
Interestingly, however, the 24-year-old has appeared in Congolese colours before, having made an appearance for their U20 team seven years ago.
As for his chances of being called up to England's senior side, Southgate has an embarrassment of riches in that right-back role, with Kyle Walker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kieran Trippier and Reece James all vying for that position.

In France, Nice sensation Amine Gouiri could still decide to represent Algeria on the senior stage if he continues being overlooked by France boss Didier Deschamps, particularly after his form this season, during which he has contributed to 20 goals in 35 matches.
