Chance For Chiefs Winger To Save His Career

Chance For Chiefs Winger To Save His Career

Tebogo Potsane got his first taste of competitive action against Polokwane City.

Returning Kaizer Chiefs winger Tebogo Potsane impressed a former player of the club with a performance that could open the door for more opportunities in the matchday squad.

Potsane came on as a second half substitute against Polokwane City for his first appearance of the season and his performance was one of the few positives in a 2-0 defeat to Rise and Shine.

The former Royal AM player's time at Naturena has been hampered by injury and has been linked with an exit from the club, but the time he got on Sunday afternoon could go a long way in convincing head coach Nasreddine Nabi to give him more minutes on the pitch for the rest of the campaign.

Potsane almost got his name on the scoresheet, but his well taken shot struck the upright. There were glimpses of brilliance, but former Amakhosi right back Isaac Mabotsa has stressed the importance of making the most of every opportunity.

"To be honest, it's very important to use the minutes you get, especially when you play for a club like Chiefs. You always have to be positive and use your chance when you get it, whether it's five or 10 minutes. You need to make sure you go in there and make a difference," Mabotsa said to the Siya crew.

"I was happy with his performance. When you don't play, football forgets about you. I was surprised to see him in the team, but to be honest, he played well, especially because he had not played in a while."

According to Mabotsa, Potsane's inclusion in the matchday squad means that the player has been working hard in training.

"It means he has been working hard on his game. It shows that he is still in the coach's plans. If the coach didn't want him at all, I don't think he would have played him. I think it was all about his hard work. It paid off and he did well."

The challenge now is to ensure he keeps on working hard to get more opportunities in the team.

"On my side, to be fair, I think he has to play again. He played well, but he has to keep working hard and everything will fall into place."
