Amakhosi youth product, Samkelo Zwane, spoke about how he started playing for the Soweto Giants in a short interview with his club's media team.
The Glamour Boys are currently in Türkiye for a pre-season tour and Zwane was pulled aside to chat about his journey to club and what his aspirations are for the upcoming season.
The 22-year-old burst onto the scene during 2021/22 s under the guidance of Arthur Zwane, but struggled for game time under Molefi Ntseki and Cavin Johnson in the previous campaign, making just eight appearances in all competitions.
Under Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi tutelage, there's plenty of hope for Zwane to get more regular game time, with the youngster tipped to breathe new life into Amakhosi's midfield.
"How I joined Kaizer Chiefs? Well it was actually through the GDL (Gauteng Development League). We were playing a GDL match at Naturena. I played at under-17 level [for Chiefs] then under-19's and then I was asked to train with the MDC [DStv Diski Challenge] team," said Zwane when speaking to KC Media.
"When I got into the academy it was quite tough because I saw there was so much quality at the academy side so I knew I would have to work my socks of and I was very determined. Thankfully, by the grace of God I made it to the first team," added the midfielder.
Zwane also touched on his short-term goal of pushing for the player of the season award and what keeps him driven:
"By the end of 2024, I will try push for Player of the Season. What drives me, is that I always wanted to be successful as a young person, to be a successful footballer and try to fulfill my purpose."
