The story

Orlando Pirates kicked off their MTN8 title defense with a 3-1 victory over SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.

After 90 minutes of pulsating action, the match finished 1-1, but the Buccaneers, showing greater attacking initiative, pulled ahead in extra time.

Monnapule Saleng and Evidence Makgopa scored the decisive goals to secure their advancement, with Olisa Ndah opening the scoring with a neat finish.

Despite not getting onto the scoresheet, Patrick Maswanganyi got the crowd going Es'godini with his sublime skills, with Tito showing no signs of slowing down from an incredible debut season at the Sea Robbers.

The 2023/24 DStv Prem Midfielder of the Season seemed to have left SuperSport United assistant coach, Andre Arendse incensed after the full-time whistle.

The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was seen angrily approaching Maswanganyi, when addressing the player, Arendse was making movements with his feat, insinuating his displeasure in Tito's showboating.

Maswanganyi looked as confused as ever by Arendse's actions, with the latter being ushered away from Tito by a member of Matsatsantsa's coaching staff.
