The story

Former Cape Town City man, Gift Links is having a stormer of a season so far, playing a prominent role AGF Aarhus' squad.

The versatile 25-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting players in the Danish Superliga after being voted into the Team of the Season last campaign.

His form this season has seen him pick up from where he left off in 2023/24, managing a goal and two assists in five league matches so far.

Links has been in Denmark since 2019 and in his conversation with Robert Marawa this week — the baller spoke about how he's been finding life in the Scandinavian nation since his move from the Mother City.

"I'm really happy this side. I'm enjoying my time, the football as well, So, I feel at home in Denmark. I would call it my second home because everything is just top," shares Links on Marawa Sports Worldwide, adding:

"Yeah, all in all, it's been good. I've enjoyed every singled day here in Denmark. Every time I get an opportunity to fly back home, I do. I just bring my girlfriend with me, we fly to South Africa to get some sun, as you know in Denmark, it's really hard to get some sun. So, whenever we get the opportunity, we head to South Africa. But I do miss home sometimes, but work is work, I can't do anything about that," stated Links.

Before making it as a professional footballer, Links was making inroads in the world of Athletics as a 1500 metre runner, with that stamina serving him well in the beautiful game.

On choosing between football and athletics, Links has no regrets: "The thing is, I was good at both. I was under the Royal Bafokeng Sports Holdings, so I was under both sports. I had to make a decision whether I want to go with either athletics or football, in the end I chose football. I'm happy I chose football and I'm happy I did so, I think it was the right decision. I have no regrets over choosing football over athletics," shared multi-talented athlete.

Despite his consistent showings in Denmark, Links last wore the colours of Bafana Bafana in 2021 and continues to be snubbed by Hugo Broos in recent Bafana Bafana call-ups.

If he continues his solid performances at AGF Aarhus could put Broos under pressure to include the speedster in his future Bafana squads and with his recent Man of the Match performance in Aarhus' 5-1 win over Vejle, it won't be long until we see him don the colours of the men's national team once again.
