South African football as we know is amongst the most unique leagues in the world and what sets them apart is the type of football skills we as South Africans learn on the streets and dusty pitches as we grow up.
Today, the Fan Park crew takes a look at some of the most famous football tricks used in our game!
This trick is very simple to do, as it simply requires the player on the ball to roll the ball under him/her, while leaning slightly to the back. Here is Mamelodi Sundowns star Surprise Moriri with a classic Tsamaya!
Known as the nutmeg to the rest of the world and a 'shibobo' to South Africans, this trick can be done in many ways… All it requires is putting the ball through the opponent's legs. Check out this short clip where Kaizer Chiefs legend, Jabu Pule, skins his opponent with a deft shibobo.
The 360 turn was immortalised by one of the most gifted players to have been produced in South Africa in Scara Ngobese. Used mainly for showboating, this trick is sure to get the attention of the crowd! Watch this clip and roll back the years of the once every graceful Scara.
This is a trick which really gets the crowd going! Simply done by making as if you're going to kick the ball without having to do so, this then makes the opponent flinch and turns around so as to not get hit in the face, showing his/her jersey number in the process.
