Morocco 'Consider' New Target Amid Riveiro Links

Recently, the outgoing Orlando Pirates boss was touted as a possible target for the North African giants by Soccer Laduma

It has been suggested that the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, is open to recruiting a new manager should current boss Walid Regragui under perform at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which the North Africans will be hosting.

While the Spanish tactician has been linked with the highest-ranked African side, according to Moroccan outlet Soccer 212, Lekjaa is a major fan of Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique.

The 54-year-old is currently doing a sterling job with Les Parisiens — unbeaten in Ligue 1, in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, and in the final of the Coupe de France. Earlier this year, he was awarded a contract extension until 2027.

However, it is understood that last year, the head of Moroccan football was seriously considering a move for Enrique.

Regragui has seemingly come under increasing pressure, with national team supporters reportedly unhappy with recent performances. As a result, various names continue to be linked as his potential successor. The same report claims Lekjaa remains an admirer of the former Barcelona manager, but will likely have to look elsewhere if the FRMF are to part ways with Regragui at a later stage.
