Next Matches 'Pivotal' For Rulani's Future At Wydad

Rulani Mokwena's next three matches are reportedly set to be decisive in determining whether he coaches Wydad Athletic Club at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Botola Pro Inwi is approaching its final stretch of fixtures and, while RS Berkane have already won the league title, there are other outcomes in the Moroccan top division yet to be decided.

Perhaps the biggest storyline emerging is who will capture the final automatic CAF Champions League qualification spot, as several teams are still in contention for second place on the log standings, including Mokwena's Wydad.

The Red Castle are currently in third position and trail second-placed AS FAR Rabat by two points — a deficit they will undoubtedly be looking to make up in the coming weeks.

According to Kooora, if the South African tactician is to lead the record Moroccan champions into the Club World Cup and the 2025/26 season, he will need to finish in second.

He will, however, have to navigate some potentially tricky encounters in the league that are coming up, as Wydad will face archrivals Raja Club Athletic on 12 April, before encountering the team they are chasing, AS FAR, in the following matchweek.

Before they look to improve their league form, though, there is a crucial Moroccan Throne Cup Round of 16 match this weekend against Moghreb Tetouan. Winning this game will likely give him the necessary momentum going into the potentially season-defining match-ups against the Black Army and the Green Eagles.
