'Pitso-Like' Actions Put Ahly Boss' Future In Jeopardy

'Pitso-Like' Actions Put Ahly Boss' Future In Jeopardy

Al Ahly are reportedly unhappy with their manager.

Some methods which were reportedly implemented by Pitso Mosimane at Al Ahly have now been done by Marcel Koller, and they have put the Swiss tactician's job security under threat.

It has not been smooth sailing for the 64-year-old in the Egyptian capital in recent weeks, and his issues at the club have been further compounded following their recent 3-1 defeat to El-Gaish in the Egyptian League Cup.

The Club of the Century are now bottom of their group in the competition following successive losses, but the defeat earlier this week was made worse by Koller's selection for the match.

The trophy-laden tactician decided to field a side comprised mostly of players in their early 20s, and the reason for this, according to Ahly News, is because he wanted to have his first team ready for their upcoming CAF Champions League first-leg quarter-final clash against Al Hilal Omdurman.

He wanted his stars well-rested for the crucial continental clash, but the same report claims that the club's management want Koller to implement the opposite approach. It is understood that the chiefs at the El Tetsh Stadium wanted the former Austrian national team boss to play the players available to him that are first-team regulars so that they can face the Sudanese giants with adequate momentum.

The report claims that the resting of major players before crucial clashes is a strategy believed to have been utilised by Mosimane, something the club's chiefs did not appreciate, and now it seems that their patience with Koller is running thin.

It is alleged that should Ahly's form continue, the club will ponder whether to part ways with their coach at the end of the season.
