Eto’o Addresses ‘Conflict’ With Cameroon Boss

Samuel Eto'o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Association, has recently spoken about the alleged conflict between him and the national team head coach.

The relationship between the country's all-time top goalscorer turned federation president and their current head coach, Marc Brys, has been tumultuous from the beginning.

Following the dismissal of Rigobert Song after their elimination from the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, it is believed that Eto'o had his own plans for who would succeed his former teammate, but the nation's sports ministry decided to appoint the Belgian tactician instead.

Since then, there have been constant skirmishes between the two, with Brys often not allowed to have his assistant with him on the technical bench for matches.

The FECAFOOT chief was recently asked about the alleged friction between the two, and the former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker revealed that he is hoping their issues can be resolved sooner rather than later.

"I was embarrassed by this situation because the ambition I had when I came to FECAFOOT was to do things well, to respect the statutes and laws of Cameroon… I also understand coach Marc Brys," Eto'o told Canal Plus.

"There is a group that brings him, that presents him with a situation. He did not have enough perspective.

"But as I had the opportunity to tell him during an interview we had at one point, I told him, I will be the last to get off your boat because the signature is mine. I hope he understood the meaning of that sentence. There are always certain challenges that present themselves to us.

"There are still adjustments to be made. But I have great hope that all this will return to order and everyone will know where they stand."
