Mngqithi: There Is Something Wrong If You're Not Excited

Mngqithi: There Is Something Wrong If You're Not Excited

Hugo Broos' work as Bafana Bafana coach has given many people reason to be excited and one of those individuals is Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

After finishing third at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier this year, the Belgian has inspired Bafana to back-to-back qualifications and did so without defeat, showing how much progress they have made under the tutelage of the former Cameroon coach.

Of course, Broos has had his critics but he's kept on progressing with the national team, so much so that supporters are making their way back to the stadium to watch Bafana in action.

Bafana finished top of Group K in the qualifiers and have no doubt become a country many other nations are taking note of, and it's no surprise that Mngqithi had so much praise for Broos and the team.

"I am very excited and any South African who would not be excited with what's happening with the national team now, there would something wrong with that person because at the moment I think we've reached a stage where we can be confident and brag about our national team. They are really giving the nation what the nation would have required from them," Mngqithi said at Chloorkop on Wednesday, ahead of the Carling Knockout final against Magesi FC this Saturday.

"They are scoring goals, they are winning matches convincingly and, personally, I am excited with the national team and with what coach Hugo Broos has also done because I think he has faced a lot of criticism in the past when people did not understand what he was trying to do, but I think he has proven so many people wrong. Sometimes, in life, you must accept that it's God's way. When God wants to put you on the podium, he does not want you to be at the podium without spectators. But sometimes when you face all these trials and tribulations and people doubt you, when he does what he does, now everybody becomes the audience. We must applaud the work he has done with the team because he has come from a position where not many people thought he would do so much. It's exciting."
