Bafana Defender Linked With Bayern

With improving performances in each passing game, it's not surprising that there is German interest in Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Khuliso Mudau, the Siya crew investigates.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, there has been European interest in Mudau, and now insiders close to the player and the club have indicated that German giants Bayern Munich are believed to be monitoring him.

The insiders added that Bayern have been keeping an eye on Mudau since coach Vincent Kompany's tenure at the Bundesliga club. It was reported how Kompany had been following Mudau from his time when managing Burnley in England.

"Yes, there is interest from Germany. Actually it's Bayern Munich. Their coach Vincent Kompany is a big fan of Sailor (Mudau). He was actually the one who inquired about him while he was still the coach at Burnley FC in England. And now that he has moved to Bayern Munich he has continued to monitor him," said the Siya source.

"There is nothing official at the moment but we are looking forward to something positive. He is very good and a modern right back who is more like Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool who is good in defending and very good in attack and putting in those effective crosses for strikers. That's what seems to have attracted the Bayern Munich coach," the source added to the Siya crew.

A second insider further stated that the player's representatives would be looking at other offers from Europe, with more teams showing interest.

"You know his initial contract at Sundowns is coming to an end in June 2025 and the club also wants to cash in on him if possible while there is still interest in him and that is why his representatives are looking at that interest from Europe to see which one can suit his style and he can play regularly if he joins. So, if all goes well, then it could be soon," the second insider stated.

The 29-year-old joined Sundowns in 2020 from Black Leopards and has been a regular at the Brazilians, making the right-back position his own. As Mudau continues to attract interest from European clubs, his future looks promising.

With his contract at Sundowns nearing its end, fans will be eager to see if the talented right-back makes a move to Europe and how it will impact his career.
