There has been a tremendous amount of uncertainty surrounding the three-time African champions' hot seat.
The west African giants decided to find a permanent replacement for Finidi George a few days before their qualification campaign for AFCON 2025 was set to commence.
German tactician Bruno Labbadia was set to become Nigeria's new head coach, with the NFF even putting out a statement confirming the appointment.
However, at the last moment the deal fell through, leaving the esteemed footballing nation without a manager days before their AFCON qualification campaign was set to begin against Benin.
Ultimately, they decided NFF technical director Augustine Eguavoen would reprise his role as national team head coach on an interim basis, two years after he was initially removed from the position.
Eguavoen's Super Eagles won their first match against Benin 3-0, but saw his charges drew 0-0 with Rwanda in their second match.
It seems Nigeria are no closer to hiring a permanent successor to George, though, with the NFF have confirmed that Eguavoen will continue to oversee the star-studded side for their next set of qualifiers against Libya.
