The story
The first match of the Betway Premiership season saw Thwihli Thwahla salvage a point in the 84th minute through Motebang Sera equaliser, to hold Cape Town City to a 1-1 draw at Harry Gwala Stadium after Prins Tjiueza had given the visitors an early lead.
However, Mpisane's inclusion in the starting lineup caught most of the attention, with the Royal AM chairman's selection being criticised and his rather underwhelming performance being mocked by supporters on social media.
Donning the famous number 10 jersey, Mpisane's 51 minutes of action saw him only complete four passes, losing possession eight times and failing to complete four cross attempts before being replaced by goal scorer, Sera.
The Twitter/X timeline was quick to highlight Mpisane's mistakes on the pitch, with many fans pointing out that the 23-year-old doesn't possess enough quality to be playing in South African football's top flight:
