Chiefs-Bound Nabi Bids Emotional Farewell To AS FAR Fans

Following Nasreddine Nabi's last game for AS Far head coach, he bided an emotional farewell to the passionate fans ahead of his reported move to Kaizer Chiefs.

The story

Nasreddine Nabi's AS FAR Rabat suffered a 2-1 defeat to Josef Zinnbauer's unbeaten Raja Casablanca in the Moroccan Throne Cup final on Monday night, which seemingly paves the way for Kaizer Chiefs to confirm the appointment of the 58-year-old Tunisian as their new head coach.

On Sunday, Chiefs announced that they would name their new head coach and his technical staff soon, without specifying a timeline of when that will happen. Nabi has been linked with Chiefs since before the 2023/24 season and was hotly tipped to takeover at Naturena after leaving Young Africans (Yanga), before talks broke down between the Tunisian and the Soweto giants.

Initial speculation about a possible postponement of up to 10 days for the Throne Cup final, following the passing of Lalla Latifa Amahzoune, the mother of King Mohammed V of Morocco on Saturday, did not materialize with the match proceeded as scheduled.

In his only season at AS FAR, Nabi was pipped to the Botola Pro 1 league title by Zinnbauer's Invincible Raja Casablanca side, finishing second and fell short at the Throne Cup final, walking away with a silver medal.

In 38 games, Nabi managed 27 wins, 5 draws and 6 defeats, with his team scoring a mammoth 89 goals, that's certainly something the Khosi Nation can look forward to, as well as hopes of breaking a nine-year trophy drought.

After Monday night's final at the Adrar Stadium, Nabi headed over to the passionate AS FAR supporters, to share his final goodbyes. He blew kisses and saluted the buoyant crowd, who undoubtedly formed a strong bond with the incoming Chiefs head coach.
