The Rosario native has been confirmed as the winner of the MLS' April Player of the Month award following a sterling return from injury.

The diminutive playmaker missed most of Inter Miami's league matches in March due to a muscular knock he sustained, but since recovering, he has been a force in attack.

In April, the Herons captain found the back of the net six times and provided three assists, with their unbeaten run during the month helping maintain their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference standing, where they sit with 21 points after 11 matches played.

The Argentine has now positioned himself as the leader in the race for the league's Golden Boot with his nine goals, one strike ahead of DC United's Christian Benteke, and is also said to be an early frontrunner for the 2024 MLS MVP prize.

When fit, the 36-year-old has been phenomenal for the Herons, already amassing a total of 22 goals and 11 assists in the 24 matches he has played for Gerardo "Tata" Martino-led side.
