Chiefs Make U-Turn On Nabi?

Chiefs Make U-Turn On Nabi?

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have reignited their interest in coach Nasreddine Nabi, with the intention of bringing him to Naturena, the Siya crew has been informed.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, the former Yanga FC coach was set to join Amakhosi at the start of the current season, with the hiccup being personal demands, which saw the deal fall through. Indications are that the club has since backtracked on their previous stance.

Some of the coach's demands included bringing his own technical team, including goalkeeper coach, fitness trainer, strength and conditioning coach, as well as an assistant coach.

"You see last time the main problem with coach Nabi was him bringing in those four backroom staff with him. But now that the club has changed their mind on such coaches they have opened up the door again for Nabi to come and join the team of course if he is still interested. It will all depends on the offer that can take him out of his present job in Morocco. But last time he was ready to coach Chiefs and I hope he still have that desire to come to South Africa," a source indicated.

Insiders have further revealed that one of the shortlisted coaches, Manqoba Mngqithi, is understood to have been offered a new deal at Sundowns

"The uncertainty of the club getting Manqoba (Mngqithi) has also played a part in the team looking at Nabi again. They feel that they should have that five shortlisted number still intact. Whether they will hire from that five or not, but they want to have a solid basis where to start looking even before the season ends. They want to be one step ahead this time around," the source informed the Siya crew.

Nabi is currently coaching at AS FAR in Morocco and is top of the league standings, ahead of the powerhouses like Raja Casablanca and FUS Rabat, with 55 points from 23 games.

The Siya crew made an attempts to contact Chiefs for comment, but no response was received at the time of publishing.
