Steven Gerrard has reacted to Al Ettifaq's 3-0 win over Pitso Mosimane's Abha Club on Saturday.

Speaking after his team picked up all three points following a 3-0 win over Abha Club on Saturday, the Liverpool legend was critical of his opponents' approach, saying they "tried to provoke us by wasting time".

These remarks were posted on Al Ettifaq's X (formerly Twitter) account, and more of the former England midfielder's comments have surfaced online.

Gerrard, 43, was proud of his team's showing at the Abdullah Al Dabil Stadium, and was particularly pleased to see Moussa Dembele get back on the scoresheet.

"We played an excellent match in terms of performance and result," he said, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.

"We have a high mental state, and we achieved what was required by winning the three points. I thank the players and the supporting staff for the distinguished level.

"In a different way, I am happy that Moussa Dembele is back to scoring, which is normal, as he is a high-quality player and a natural goalscorer."
