What's the story?

From Mzansi icons Lucas Radebe and Neil Tovey to other big names like Abedi Pele Ayew, Nwankwo Kanu and Didier Drogba made their presence felt at the final weekend of AFCON 2023.

The legends were spotted at both the Final and the Third-Place Playoff, with former Bafana Bafana captains Radebe and Tovey cheering on the current stars against DR Congo.

African Football Legends At AFCON

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations concluded on Sunday evening with the hosts, Côte d'Ivoire clinching the continental crown over Nigeria's Super Eagles.

Didier Drogba was proud to bear witness to the current generation of Ivorian stars winning AFCON with a miraculous run from the Elephants that saw them qualify to the knockout stages via a third-place finish.

The Chelsea legend joined in the jubilant celebrations after final and also brought the AFCON trophy back down to the ground after the men in Orange overcame Nigeria in a 2-1 win.

Lucas Radebe and Neil Tovey were spotted in a suite during Bafana Bafana's 6-5 penalties win over DR Congo in the Third-Place Playoff alongside Congolese legend Herita Ilunga N'Kongolo.

One of Dutch football's greatest midfielders of all time and ex-Cameroon head coach Clarence Seedorf was also in Abidjan over the weekend. 

The Bafana legends were also pictured with Ghanian icon Abedi Pele Ayew and Togolese GOAT Emmanuel Adebayo. Here's what Radebe shared on Twitter/X: 

Before his country had their hearts broken by the hosts, legendary Super Eagles forward Nwankwo Kanu was spotted with his former coach at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger:
