Defending champions Al Ahly started their CAF Champions League group stage campaign with a 3-0 win over Medeama on Saturday night.
South African forward Percy Tau was only named on the bench by coach Marcel Koller after returning from international duty.
This was the first-ever meeting between the two sides, as Al Ahly looked to bounce back after their disappointment of not winning the African Football League.
The reigning African champions, however, found the going tough in the first half and were unable to break down the Ghanaian outfit.
As a result, coach Koller introduced Tau in the 61st minute in place of Karim Fouad as they pushed for the opening goal.
The Red Devils got their reward five minutes later when Kahraba found the back of the net for his first goal of the competition.
The lead was doubled with 15 minutes left on the clock, with Hussein El Shahat adding his name to the score-sheet before Salah Mohsen rounded off the scoring in the 88th minute.
The win takes Koller's troops to the top of Group D, level on points with CR Belouizdad who defeated Young Africans earlier in the day.
