Barcelona Confirm What They Are Paying Joao Felix

Barcelona's economic vice-president has revealed what they are paying Joao Felix to be at the club this season after reports suggested the midfielder had taken a significant wage cut to secure the move.

The Portugal international joined the Catalan club on loan from Atletico Madrid on the final day of the recent window, after saying earlier in the year that it was his dream to represent the Blaugrana.

With rumours having suggested that the midfielder had agreed to lower his wages dramatically in order to make the temporary switch to Atleti's rivals, Barca's economic vice-president Eduard Romeu has now revealed exactly what the forward will be paid until the campaign concludes.

"It's true, Joao Félix has reduced his salary to join," he said, according to L'Esportiu.

"It's €400 000 (for the season). It's a very strong message from Joao.

"What happens in June? We hope to have the problem to consider him staying beyond this season."

Felix has been in impressive form since joining the LALIGA champions, having already contributed to six goals in his first eight appearances.

Amid the player's lively start to life in Barcelona, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has consistently reminded the public that the 23-year-old still belongs to Los Rojiblancos.

This likely means Barca will have a difficult time negotiating a permanent deal to sign Felix, who might be expected to accept another salary cut should the two clubs strike an agreement.
