AmaZulu Lining Up Sundowns Keeper?

AmaZulu Lining Up Sundowns Keeper?

With the PSL transfer window closing on Friday, clubs are pushing to bring in the players who really matter to them.

After signing midfielder Ben Motshwari from Orlando Pirates, the Siya crew understands that AmaZulu FC could now be looking at Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February.

Siya sources at both clubs have indicated that talks are ongoing and something could happen before Friday midnight.

"AmaZulu are really interested in Jody February. For now they have just two main goalkeepers which is not good for a team like AmaZulu," said the Siya source.

"At least three are better if you consider injuries and suspensions. What I know is they are talking to Sundowns and it will all depend on those talks (if he signs or not).

"You know he was there on loan last season and it's Sundowns who said they want to use him this season but it doesn't look like he will play there and a loan move to AmaZulu would be good for the player," the source told the Siya crew.

Meanwhile a different Siya source added that the only stumbling block could be Sundowns wanting to have four goalkeepers in the team as they are playing in so many tournaments this season.

"The player wants to go but the final decision lies with the Sundowns technical team as they have already sent Ricardo Goss on loan to SuperSport United and Kennedy Mweene is retired so they still need these four together in the team," said the other Siya source.

"But this is football, anything can happen before the transfer window period closes on Friday," the source observed.

27-year-old February had joined Sundowns from Ajax Cape Town in 2019, and he has spent most of his time on loan away from the Brazilians. He has been on loan to Cape Umoya, Moroka Swallows and last season he was at AmaZulu FC.

Soccer Laduma contacted both teams for a comment but received no response while preparing this story.
