Banyana Banyana picked up their first ever World Cup point in a draw against Argentina in Dunedin, with plenty of South Africans sharing their reactions on social media.

From questioning Desiree Ellis' selections to general disappointment over the result, the Twitter timeline has been all about Banyana since the full-time whistle.

Twitter reacts to Banyana draw 

Fans had to witness Banyana Banyana letting a lead slip once again after fumbling a two-goal buffer secured by stars Linda Motlhalo and Thembi Kgatlana in the 30th and 66th minutes respectively.

Argentina staged a come back in a five-minute spell between the 74th and the 79th minutes when Sophia Braun and Romina Nunez found the back of the net, to keep their World Cup hopes alive after also losing their first game.

The draw denied Desiree Ellis' troops of their first World Cup win, but as mentioned, they still earned their first ever World Cup point that could prove crucial against Italy next week Wednesday in the last round of group stage matches.

As expected, Twitter was a buzz with reactions, with many calling for goalkeeper Andile Dlamini to start the next match, while others bemoaned a missed opportunity for the African champions.
