Mane Breaks Silence Over Future, Explains Sane Incident

Mane Breaks Silence Over Future, Explains Sane Incident

Sadio Mane has insisted he is staying at Bayern Munich amid links with Saudi Arabia.

Sadio Mane has broken his silence over his future at Bayern Munich amid apparent interest from Saudi Arabia, while he has also explained his controversial punch on Leroy Sane earlier this season.

Following a difficult first term in Germany, the 31-year-old has admitted to enduring a "complicated" time in the Bundesliga since his move from Liverpool last year, but insisted he is ready to turn things around as he prepares for the coming campaign.

"I'm on vacation with the family. It was a very complicated season, it happens," he told 2stvsenegal

"It wasn't a surprise, I expected things to be a bit complicated. It's normal. I love challenges, and Bayern is a big challenge. It's up to me to do everything to meet this challenge."

Mane made headlines for the wrong reasons earlier this year when he punched teammate Leroy Sane in frustration following a UEFA Champions League defeat to Manchester City, a blow that left the German bloodied and the Senegalese winger in trouble in the form of a suspension and a fine.

"This kind of things can happen. It happened," he said.

"We were able to solve this small problem. Sometimes it's good to solve problems, but maybe not in this way. It's behind us now. We'll try to fight together to help the club achieve its goals next season."

The ex-Premier League star then said he has no plans of abandoning his ambition to succeed at the Bundesliga champions after he was asked if he will still be a Bayern player come August.

"Yes, God willing. If everything goes well, I'm going to return to Bayern," he added.

Mane, who was tipped to be sold by the club following the incident involving Sane, scored 12 goals and assisted six further strikes in his difficult first season at the Bavarians.
