Tau's Superb Campaign Continues, Chasing Down Shalulile!

Tau's Superb Campaign Continues, Chasing Down Shalulile!

Bafana Bafana international Percy Tau continued his impressive form in the CAF Champions League with another goal on Sunday night.

The South African forward lined up in the attack alongside Kahraba and Hussein El Shahat, looking to avenge last season's 2-0 defeat in the final to Wydad Casablanca.

After a relatively quiet opening, Tau would go on to get the opening goal with a powerful header from close range after getting on the end of El Shahat's well-weighted cross.

The 29-year-old was much more livelier in the second half as he combined well with the influential Kahraba down the right flank and was unlucky not to get a late goal with a powerful effort from distance.

Wydad did manage to pull a goal back to give themselves some hope in the second leg in Morocco next weekend.

Meanwhile, the Bafana star has the most goal contributions in the competition this season, having registered five goals and five assists in 11 matches.

This is not the first time Tau leads the competition with goal contributions, after ending last season's campaign with the most contributions (8).

Tau is also the Red Devils' second highest scorer in the competition this season, one behind Kahraba who is level on six with Mamelodi Sundowns star Peter Shalulile.
