Pirates To Engage Lorch?

Pirates To Engage Lorch?

After being out of action for months and missing most of the season, Thembinkosi Lorch has made an immediate impact on his return for Orlando Pirates.

Sources have revealed that the Buccaneers look set to open talks with the winger, in the hope of tying down the player and securing his future.

It is believed that the club's management look set to engage in contract discussions with the player, with indications that another three-year deal is on the cards.

"As of now it's not a done deal. It's still on the talking stage but it's a proposed three-year extension to his current contract which is ending on 30th June 2024. You know such talks take time and it also depends on what the team offers and what the player wants," a source revealed to the Siya crew.

"So the talks seem to have started even before he returned to action because they knew that his injury will heal and he is still in the team's plans."

The source added that the 29-year-old who joined Pirates from Maluti FET College in 2017, initially signed a four-year contract until 2021 and in 2021 extended for another three years until June 2024.

"You have to understand that he extended for the first time in 2021 and that's why the current contract runs until next year and if he agrees to a new contract it will mean it's the second time he is extending for another three years. But for now, we can't say it's a done deal yet. But it looks promising," the source added.

Contacted for comment Pirates official Stanley 'Screamer' Tshabalala said that it's not the right time to be talking about contracts now.

"Now is not the right time to talk about contracts. We are still busy with the remaining games. Let's talk about player contracts at the end of the season," Tshabalala said.
