Report: PSG Have Change Of Heart On Messi

PSG have reportedly changed their mind about having Lionel Messi at the club.

With Lionel Messi's contract set to expire at the end of the season, Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly had a change of heart regarding the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

According to L'Equipe, Les Parisiens' desire to extend the diminutive Argentine's stay in Paris may have fallen by the wayside, with the club believed to have become disillusioned with their talisman.

The 35-year-old's current deal at the Parc des Prince is set to come to an end once the 2022/23 campaign concludes, and while there were rumours an agreement in principle was in place between the club and Messi's representatives since before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, everything seems to have unravelled quickly in the past couple of weeks for the Rosario native.

The Ligue 1 table-toppers were recently eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Bayern Munich, and this past weekend, Christophe Galtier's men lost a home league game for the first time in 35 matches against Stade Rennais.

The defeat was met with loud boos from sections of the PSG faithful, with Messi in particular being heavily jeered.

The same report suggests that some of the team's supporters have been underwhelmed by Messi since he arrived as a free agent and do not want the club to extend his deal in the French capital.

There have been rumours suggesting that Barcelona have been working behind the scenes to try to mend their relations with the 2022 World Cup winner so he can make a spectacular return to the Camp Nou.

While the French club could seemingly turn their back on the footballing legend, Messi has also had his reservations about the sporting project at PSG after they were knocked out of the Champions League at the round of 16 stage for a second successive season.
