Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar has revealed he left Al Nassr angry and what he spoke to Cristiano Ronaldo about after it became clear the Portugal captain would replace him in the side.
Al Nassr Player Reveals How Squad Reacted To Ronaldo Being Made Captain
The 31-year-old returned to Turkish giants Besiktas in January following a one-and-a-half-year spell at Al Nassr after reports suggested he was sacrificed by the Saudi Arabian giants due to Ronaldo's high-profile arrival.
Aboubakar scored 13 goals in 39 matches for Al Nassr before it was claimed his spot in the team was uncertain amid the side's pursuit of Ronaldo, who has since made three appearances and been given the captain's armband.
Cameroon's experienced forward has now admitted to leaving the Middle Eastern club unhappy, but revealed the ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United No. 7 wanted him to stay put.
"I left a little angry. With the arrival of Cristiano (Ronaldo), I made it clear to the coach, even before his arrival, that I wanted to leave.
"But the club wanted me to stay and was even ready to pay my salary until the end of the season.
"Yes, I talked a bit with Cristiano. From our exchange, he would have liked me to stay but I told him I want to leave. He asked me where my family was, I told him in France and that it will be easier for me to see them being in Turkey, and he said OK."
