Al Nassr Player Reveals How Squad Reacted To Ronaldo Being Made Captain

Al Nassr Player Reveals How Squad Reacted To Ronaldo Being Made Captain

With Cristiano Ronaldo having just been made captain, an Al Nassr player has revealed his feelings regarding their new arrival being given the armband.

Ten Hag Puts Three Man Utd Players 'Up For Sale'

At the beginning of the year, the Portuguese marksman completed a highly lucrative move to Saudi Pro League table-toppers Al Nassr. The 38-year-old has signed a two-year deal in the Middle East, where he will be earning £173 million (R3.6 billion) annually, the biggest football contract of all-time.

Immediately upon his arrival in Riyadh, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was given the captaincy, succeeding veteran defender Abdullah Madu as the man with the armband. While many may have anticipated a possible fallout in the squad, star attacker Jaloliddin Masharipov has revealed that nobody had an issue with Ronaldo becoming skipper.

"It'd be a little strange if the rest of the players are captaining Ronaldo," the Uzbekistan international told Sports.ru.

"Our former captain willingly handed over the armband [to Cristiano Ronaldo] without any problems. I think this is the best solution. It cannot be otherwise."

While the Knights of Najd have brought a football icon to their club, it has not been the best of starts to his life in Saudi Arabia as his side have only won a single game in the three matches he has led the team out in.

Benzema To Miss Club World Cup Clash Against Al Ahly

In Al Nassr's latest draw against Al-Fateh, Ronaldo did however open his account for the Saudi outfit as his late penalty salvaged a point for the log leaders.
