FIFA President Makes Massive Pele Request To Every Country In The World

FIFA President Makes Massive Pele Request To Every Country In The World

With football icon Pele having recently passed away, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has now made a massive request to every country in the world.

Ronaldo To Make Shock UEFA Champions League Return?

The football fraternity is currently mourning the Brazilian legend's passing after he lost his battle with cancer at the age of 82.

The Santos icon enjoyed a phenomenal career that saw him score more than 1 000 goals and become the only player in history to win three FIFA World Cup trophies.

President of world football's governing body Infantino, who is currently in Brazil to attend the funeral of one of the beautiful game's greatest players ever, has called on nations all over the world to pay their respects to Pele by naming stadiums after him.

"We're going to ask every country in the world to name one of their football stadiums with the name of Pele," he told members of the media, emphasising the need for "children to know Pele's importance".

"I think the young people around the world, the future generations, have to know and remember who Pele was, and the happiness he gave the world," he said, as per FIFA's official website.

"In 20, 30, 50, or 100 years' time, when goals are scored in the Pele stadium in any country in the world, and people ask who he was, (they will hear) he was a great, great player who brought excitement to us all."

Lukaku Makes Decision On Chelsea Future

Despite never plying his trade in Europe, Pele's brilliance is acknowledged all around the world, and a ceremony is currently being held at Pele's former club Santos for members of the public to pay their respects, with a parade through the streets around the club taking place before a private burial on Tuesday afternoon.
