Former Blues boss Avram Grant landed in Zambia today to confirm his appointment as Chipolopolo's newest head coach.

The 67-year-old will be taking over the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations champions after Croatian Aljosa Asanovic stepped down from the role after nine months in charge of the southern Africans.

This Grant's second time coaching on the continent, having been in charge of Ghana between 2014 and 2017. During that time, the Israeli tactician was able to lead the Black Stars to an AFCON final in 2015, which they lost to the Ivory Coast following a penalty shootout.

Grant had been out of work since 2018, after he left Indian side NorthEast United FC as its technical director and head coach.

The former West Ham United manager's first task will be to lead Zambia to AFCON 2023, which will be held in the Ivory Coast in January 2024.

The Copper Bullets have failed to qualify for the continental showpiece since 2015, and will want remedy this with the appointment of Grant.
