Ghana coach Otto Addo has stepped down from his position after his side were eliminated from the FIFA World Cup on Friday night.

The Black Stars only needed a point to book their spot in the round of 16, but ended up losing 2-0 to Uruguay who also missed out due to South Korea's win over Portugal.

As a result, Addo announced after the game that he will be stepping down from his position after finishing last in Group F.

"I said it before when I started as assistant coach last year that it was clear I would stop after the World Cup,' Addo said, as per Daily Mail.

"At the moment me and my family see our future in Germany and I like my role at Dortmund and we are very happy there.

"From the day I started I said if we qualified I would resign after the World Cup, even if we are champions."

Addo's final game ended in a disappointing defeat, with the Black Stars unable to get revenge on Uruguay for the World Cup exit in 2010.

"Football is beautiful, sometimes it is ugly. It is ugly for us today. We have to learn and I'm very sure we will learn from this in the future," he said.
