Official: Downs Defender Joins CT City

Mamelodi Sundowns full-back Lyle Lakay has re-joined fellow DStv Premiership side Cape Town City.

The left-back spot had been overcrowded since the arrival of Terrence Mashego, who joined Sundowns from the Citizens.

The Mother City have wasted no time in finding a replacement, as Lakay re-joins the club on a season-long loan.

"Cape Town City can confirm that Lyle Lakay has joined on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns until the end of the season," City tweeted.

"Join us as we welcome back our very own, Lyle Lakay!"

Lakay enjoyed an impressive 2021/2022 season with the Brazilians, as he was named DStv Premiership Defender of the Season.
