Team of the week

The Carling Knockout took centre stage this past weekend with Stellenbosch FC beating TS Galaxy 5-4 on penalties, after a 1-1 draw following extra time. Goals from Lehlohonolo Mojela and Ismael Toure saw the game go into extra time but even the extra 30 minutes of football couldn't separate the two teams. The game could have gone either way as both teams had opportunities to wrap things up in regulation time only to miss. Coach Steve Barker's men were crowned champions and made history by being the first winners of the inaugural tournament, while also making history by winning their first piece of silverware since their promotion to the Premiership.

In the past week, there were league games in between, with Orlando Pirates visiting Golden Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium. The Buccaneers recorded an impressive 2-1 win away from home, securing third spot on the log, with 25 points from 14 matches. They are now eight points behind log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played three games less.

SuperSport United had to come from behind to collect maximum points away to Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday night. Gabadinho Mhango took the lead with a spectacular free-kick before Tendamudzimu Matodzi headed home to equalise. Etiosa Ighodaro scored the winner for coach Gavin Hunt's team four minutes later.

With that brief summary of the weekend's results, have a go at selecting your Team of the Week and see how close you get to the official Soccer Laduma selection.
