With the 2016/17 Absa Premiership campaign now over, we take a look at the teams that were able to score more goals than the rest.
Mosimane: It's Important To Have Humility After Victory
The league is always a gruelling test for any team and scoring consistently over 30 matches is a very difficult task. However, scoring goals does not always reflect on a team's ability to grind out results, as is exemplified by the fact that Mamelodi Sundowns outscored this season's champions, Bidvest Wits, while failing to retain their title.
With that said, Sundowns should be commended for the 50 goals that they were able to score this season, which was the highest tally in the league. Wits finished second on the scoring charts, with 47 goals and are joined by third-placed Cape Town City.
This shows a small change to last season, where Sundowns, the highest scoring team with 55 goals, were able to run away with the league due to their goalscoring exploits, while this season, it was Bidvest Wits' ability to score goals when it counted and picked up the most points throughout the season as a result.
