Motaung Jnr Hopes For History Books

Motaung Jnr Hopes For History Books

Kaizer Motaung Jnr, Kaizer Chiefs

Recently retired Kaizer Chiefs striker, Kaizer Motaung Jnr, hopes that the career he had at the club will earn him at least a few lines in the Amakhosi history books. The 32-year-old had mixed success at Naturena during his 10 year career with Chiefs, however he did enjoy one hugely successful campaign in his debut season when he netted 12 goals.

He was also named the club's Player of the Season as a result of his exploits in front of goal. Nonetheless, with game time hard to come by with the likes of Bernard Parker, Knwowledge Musona and Kingston Nkhatha ahead of him in the striking pecking order, the Johannesburg-born star recently called it a day. Katlego Mphela's arrival at the club perhaps making it clear it was the right time to hang up his boots.

The striker recently expressed his gratitude at having played for such a massive club like Chiefs. He also added that he was hopeful his name would be written into history for some of his exploits on the field.

He told the club's official website, "Kaizer Chiefs is more than a soccer team. It is an institution, a culture, a way of life, a family of millions. As players here, we stand on the shoulders of giants. It has been an honour and a blessing to have donned the famous Gold and Black. Personally, to have been Player of the Season, to have been voted Players' Player of the Season, to have scored the Goal of the Season, to have been top goal scorer and be nominated in the top three best players of the PSL, all in one season, is a contribution that I am proud of. In the ways of personal achievement, I hope that this has earned its line in the great book that tells the story of the Mighty Amakhosi."

It's expected that Motaung Jnr will now take on a boardroom position at Chiefs as he pursues a career after football.
