Jobs Available: Agent Explains Mngqithi Latest

Despite coaching jobs being available for next season at clubs such as Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United and Cape Town City, Mike Makaab has revealed that they have not rushed to offer Manqoba Mngqithi to any of these outfits.

Mngqithi's contract with Golden Arrows is set to expire at the end of the campaign, as he signed a short-term deal with the club a couple of months after parting ways with Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

Soccer Laduma understands that Mngqithi could be open to making a move to join one of the bigger clubs in the PSL, or outside the country, but Makaab has revealed why they haven't done so.

"We are taking it one step at a time. He is very happy at Golden Arrows. He is the sort of person who likes to focus on the job at hand, so we will probably talk about it towards the latter part of the season," Makaab said to Soccer Laduma.

"We will not offer a client if we don't believe it's the right fit. I've been in the industry for 28 years and the most successful coaches and players are those who were placed where there is a really good fit. You can't always get it right. Unfortunately, those openings don't happen all the time. We are very conscious of the fact that the deal has to be important for a variety of reasons. So, I won't pick up the phone and call a football club and say 'I see your coach is leaving at the end of the season'. That's not the way we operate. We look at it and say 'is there a possibility that one of the coaches we look after could fit the vision and culture of the club'. Only in that instance will I then pick up the phone and say 'this is a coach I would like to recommend. What are your thoughts?' That happens before we get into negotiations."

Makaab did confirm that there is interest in the coach, but that's only going to be entertained at the end of the season.

"There's always interest. I keep going back to the fact that whatever it is, the project has to be of interest to him. That's what drives him and the Arrows project was of interest to him. So, let's wait and see."
