The striker, who spent only one season with Sundowns after being signed from SuperSport United in 2014, was loaned to Cyprus club AEL Limassol in August last year.
The Siya crew has now been informed that the former PSL top goalscorer, whose one-year long loan deal is still active, could be returning early to South Africa to further his career.
Niang has been featuring mainly as a substitute for AEL under Greek coach Ioakim Chavos, and was sent off in his team's last game of 2015, against Apollon.
Having been introduced in the 73rd minute of the match, the 31-year-old forward lasted only a short while on the field as he was given his marching orders in the 74th minute, with AEL losing the encounter 2-0.
