Badenhorst got on the scoresheet in his national team's 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in a 2017 Afcon qualifier on Friday.
Amakhosi have been long-time admirers of the 26-year-old, and wanted to bring him to Naturena in the recent January transfer window, but the deal failed to materialise.
It seems Chiefs have not given up on landing the player's signature just yet, though, with a source in Swaziland having indicated that Swallows are already planning for life without Badenhorst.
According to the source, the Swazi outfit are aware of the PSL giant's interest, and do not expect to have Badenhorst on their roster next season.
"What we know here in Swaziland is that the deal wasn't finalised in January because 'Fela' (Felix) was recovering from injury, and they wanted a player who would play immediately after joining the team," the source said.
"But now he is fully recovered and enjoying his football with Swallows, and Chiefs are following his progress.
"We will just see in July what happens with the whole deal, but it's still on the cards."
The Glamour Boys have endured a torrid run in recent weeks, losing four games in a row before being eliminated from the CAF Champions League after a goalless draw at ASEC Mimosas, which confirmed many Chiefs fans' worst nightmares – a trophyless season.
