Hellenic CEO, Mark Byrne, along with head of youth John Lamb, contacted Dr Kevin Lentin, who represents DNAlysis in Cape Town, to set up the necessary tests for five of their top players in the Castle League team.

The test results received will give management at the club guidance in identifying the potential of any given player tremendously in terms of training, meals and recovery plans.

Some of the results received by the club were extremely high, with three of the five players testing on par with the best scores achieved in the world in terms of the potential power and endurance component.

DNAlysis Biotechnology's Danny Meyersfield told the Siya crew that this test serves as another tool to assist in youth development in modern football.

"The important output of the test is to assist with nutrition guidelines, recovery strategies and optimal training strategies. It is not intended to be used for talent identification," said Meyersfield.

Mark Byrne began to restart this famous footballing brand almost four years ago, now with Elia Hadgidakis and Derek Anderson, who themselves have a lifetimes association with Hellenic, are beginning to restore the club to its previous greatness.

Hellenic has a very proud history in the Western Cape, but also in South African football - its representation of the Western Cape in the old NSL and PSL leagues and the history associated with that is well documented.
