DStv Premiership Report: Swallows v Baroka FC 05 June 2021

Result: Swallows 1-1 Baroka FC

Date: 05 June 2021

Swallows FC ended their DStv Premiership campaign with a 20th draw of the season after being held by Baroka FC on Saturday afternoon.

Brandon Truter handed a start to Keagan Ritchie at left-back with Thabo Matlaba suspended while Malinga started up front in place of Ruzaigh Gamildien who was left out of the match day squad.

Arrows, meanwhile, came into the encounter with nothing but three points on mind while they were hoping Orlando Pirates would lose to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in order to clinch third spot.

The hosts looked lively from the onset as Zaphaniah Mbokoma did well to threaten Oscarine Masuluke before Vuyo Mere was unable to steer his effort on target moments later.

Despite the home side's early pressure, it was Baroka who broke the deadlock on 30 minutes with Annias Gebhardt bagging his third league goal of the season.

Truter's charges had to wait until five minutes after the break to get back on level terms when Givemore Khupe rose well to head home Lebohang Mokoena's corner for his first goal of the season.

Fawaaz Basadien's afternoon came to an end in the 66th minute, with Kgaogelo Sekgota coming on in the hope of changing the game for the home side.

However, neither side could carve out another opening in the latter parts of the half as Swallow finish in the top eight while the Limpopo side end outside the MTN8 places.
