Cavin Johnson Is Searching For The Next Big Thing

Platinum Stars head coach, Cavin Johnson, is on the search for the next young football star as the club conducts clinics in South Africa's North West. Read: Mzimela Ends Dikwena's Winless Run Johnson, Dikwena's former head of youth, is known for his devotion to developing young players in Mzansi, and is using the current international break to give back to the community in Phokeng as they hold soccer clinics for around 250 youngsters. The ex-School of Excellence coach is hoping to find the next big thing during the clinics, but insisted that it was about more than just scouting the local talent. Speaking in a press release, Johnson said, "This is a club of the community. We are proud to do this. You never know what happens when you go and look at these players. We might find the next Kobamelo Kodisang, Katlego Khunou amongst them. We do that for community, but we also pray that we find the next generation of young footballers. This is the right step. "We can't do it very often because of our congested league schedule. Since we are on a break, now we have got perfect time to do it and that is why we doing it. We are making sure that the players give something back especially so that they can share their knowledge of being professional players with the youngsters." The clinics will be held at Tlapa Primary School on 9 November and Thethe Secondary School on 10 November as part of the club's Soccer Schools programme.
