Serero, 34, began his professional career with Ajax Cape Town in 2008 before moving to Ajax Amsterdam in 2011.
He later played for Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands and had successful spells in the United Arab Emirates with Al Jazira and Khor Fakkan.
Head coach Muhsin Ertugral will hope to have Serero available for selection in their upcoming match against AmaZulu FC as the Mother City outfit is working on improving their season after a disappointing run with unsatisfactory results in recent matches.
The signing of Serero is seen as a significant boost for the Citizens, especially after edging out the PSL's big guns, who had also reportedly shown interest in securing his services.
