CAF U17 Championships
Result: South Africa 3-1 Cameroon
Date: 22 February 2015
Amajimbos defeated Cameroon 3-1 to book a semi-final spot at the U17 African Youth Championship and secured a spot at the 2015 FIFA World Cup.
Molefi Ntseki's side opened the scoring as early as the second minute courtesy of an own goal from Fokem Achille.
The lead was nearly doubled in the 14th minute but Khanyisa Mayo failed to beat Cameroon goalkeeper, Cedric Tchitchue, in a one-on-one situation.
Cameroon did have an effort of their own midway through the first half, as Felix Djoubarou's long range effort sailed just wide.
Amajimbos eventually doubled the lead just before the halftime break from the penalty spot after Sibongakonke Mbatha was brought down in the box and the captain Nelson Maluleke stepped up and converted the spot-kick.
However, the Cameroonians managed to pull a goal back shortly after the halftime break thanks to Christian Bayemi.
Amajimbos captain Maluleke came to the rescue in the 57th minute, as he turned home Mbatha's cross to get the side's third goal.
Ntseki's men managed to see out the rest of the game and secured a spot in the final four, while they became the first South African U17 side to qualify for the U17 World Cup.
