Pirates To Fend Off Interest From Suitors For Star?

Pirates To Fend Off Interest From Suitors For Star?

Orlando Pirates warms up, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo of Orlando Pirates during the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup football match between Orlando Pirates and Magesi at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on 19 October 2024

Orlando Pirates have had some of the team's star players attracting interest from competitors, but it seems the club won't be keen to make too many changes to the squad.

Having advanced to the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League, the Buccaneers are understood to have prioritised keeping a big and a competitive squad to compete in all competitions despite some of the players having struggled for game time so far this season.

Ndabayithethwa Phillip Ndlondlo is one of the players that have seen limited playing time and is said to be on the radar of a few clubs in the Betway Premiership, according to sources.

Ndlondlo has featured in only one match in the League, as a late substitute in October against AmaZulu FC and has struggled to make the team since.

The 29-year-old midfielder's only other appearance this season was in the CAF Champions League preliminary stages against Disciples FC in August.

As confirmed by well-placed sources, the central midfielder's former club Marumo Gallants have become the latest side to show interest in his services.

"Enquiries have been made on Ndlondlo's availability, but it doesn't look like Pirates are willing to part ways with him. Marumo Gallants have been keen on having him, but it seems he is still in the plans at Pirates for their hectic schedule in the different competitions. Gallants wanted to have him on loan, but let's see what happens in the next few days," said the source.

Gallants are eager to reinforce the squad after they have had their FIFA transfer ban lifted, as the payment issues involving Zambian striker Mwape Musonda from his time with Moroka Swallows were resolved this week.
