Cale and Paulse, who are 32 and 33 respectively, both sustained nasty injuries recently after collisions in games, with the winger breaking his cheekbone and the striker his arm.
It remains to be seen how long the pair will be out for, however given the extent of their respective injuries, Roger de Sa can expect to be without their services for the considerable future.
Both players have played heavy roles for the Urban Warriors so far this season, with Cale playing 12 of the club's 17 games, and Paulse featuring in 17, with the pair scoring six goals between them up to now.
Ajax have been found to be consistently inconsistent of late, winning three of their last five games with two defeats in-between.
De Sa's side take on their former head coach, Muhsin Ertugral, this week as they tackle Mpumalanga Black Aces for the chance to move up to sixth place.
