South African football legends Banks Setlhodi and the late Ace Ntsoelengoe once discussed a raucous night out involving Orlando Pirates hardman, Walk Tall Khule – who ended up with a bit of a dent to his pride and without any clothes.
With an intimidating reputation, Khule was someone that people did not pick a fight with.
"Let me tell you, people never messed with Walk Tall. He was a good player and he could handle himself on and off the field, that's why he was called Walk Tall," said Ace.
Banks and Ace then discuss that on a Monday, it was their day off and they would party. One night, near the Orlando Stadium, there were drinks and girls but at 23:00, they decided to go to their local spot instead.
Walk Tall, though, was not ready to go as he was with two girls, and instead he told them that he would meet them at Kopduik.
"Everyone knew us at Kopduik. It was our place. You know what I mean. We always ended up there for our final round. Now Kopduik is in Orlando West. To walk there was possible but dangerous because you had to go through an open field. All fields in Soweto are dangerous - that is why we drove there," continued Ace.
Banks added, "Walk Tall was still too busy with his two women so he told us to go on without him and he would catch up with us later. We thought that he would get a lift with someone."
The night, though, would take an unexpected twist. "About one hour later someone came in and told us that Walk Tall was outside, that he had been beaten up and that he was crying," said Ace.
Ace, Banks, and the rest of the crowd rushed outside but they were greeted by an unexpected sight...
"Ha, ha, you see Walk Tall was completely naked. He was standing there completely kaalgat with only his hands covering his private parts ha, ha. I know we shouldn't have laughed but we could see that he wasn't badly hurt. It was more his pride that was hurt..."
